The past two weeks have seen the UK lashed by ferocious gales, heavy rain and severe flooding causing chaos to many parts of the country........including the Trewby's battle with what seemed like the entire leaf fall from the Chestnut tree at the top of Village Street clogging up the drains, allowing water to pour into their cellar at 11.30 pm!
Throughout all this, the stalwarts from Moulds, namely Terry and Mick (the digger, re-named The Mole), joined by Mick No.2 have donned their waterproofs and got stuck in. What better week to take the roof off I ask (a rare glimpse of sunshine in the photo is not representative of what they endured)!
At last a glimmer of hope in the weather appeared and the watery sun made an appearance as if it was waking up from a long sleep and the frosty, sunny weather began.
Everything is now down and with one further footing to go around the old well area, we should soon see the beginnings of upward building. The bricks are chosen, I am going to have a lessson in brick laying and pointing from Terry, who has also made a neat little porch over the cellar door and the all important electricity fuse boxes are protected under a heavy sheet of plastic - let's hope it doesn't blow away otherwise we may have to resort to candle light!
